Maine Coon Breeding – Conditions and Details

• The optimal age for the first Maine Coon mating is 1.5 years. If your 2-year-old female cat didn’t have kittens before, you may face problems with her behavior and health.
• A male cat should like his fiancee. If he remains indifferent, nothing will going to work.
• The previous experience of animals is also important. So, you need to choose only experienced male Maine Coon for mating with a female cat without previous experience.
• Before mating, the animals are fully examined by a vet. Cats should be vaccinated and treated with antiparasitic means.
• We always cut the claws of both cats to avoid possible injuries in the process of courtship.
• We plan Maine Coon mating on the second day of the cat’s estrus.
• Cats for breeding live together for 2-3 days. The process itself takes place without human intervention.
• Childbirth usually occurs 65 days after the first mating. If the female cat is not pregnant, it will become clear after about 3 weeks. So, the meeting can be repeated.

Only cats of show and breed class, which have repeatedly participated in exhibitions and have received breeding marks or have titles, are allowed to breed at Inari. Our task is to preserve the features of the breed. Therefore, we select Maine Coon cats for breeding very carefully.
